The Chair in Innovation & Regulation of Digital Services (IRSN) is interested in the digital transformation of the economy and the how this evolution can be handled by public authorities.
The Chair has been created in 2007 by Ecole Polytechnique and Telecom ParisTech (Institut Mines-Télécom), and is funded by Orange. Its general objective is, on the one hand, to develop research at the international level in industrial economics applied to the digital economy and, on the other hand, to contribute to the public debate on the digital economy in France and in Europe, in relation to the relevant public institutions (National regulatory authorities, Competition authorities, European Commission, etc.).
The activity of the Chair is threefold.
- First, the Chair supports a master program in digital economics, the IREN Master (Network Industries and Digital Economy).
- Second, the Chair aims at contributing to the public debate on policy issues pertaining to telecommunications and the digital economy. For that purpose, each year the Chair organizes various seminars for interdisciplinary exchanges on current issues in the digital economy.
- Finally, the Chair supports research in digital economics, through doctoral workshops, a Summer School on Digital Economics, and an international conference on the economics of information and communication technologies. It also develops an original research program, directed by the titular of the Chair (currently, Professor Christine Zulehner).
