Laura Recuero Virto is special advisor – multilateral development banks at French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She joined the ministry as head of the unit on economic analysis and globalization in February 2013, having previously worked for the OECD (Development Centre and Public Governance and Territorial Development Directorate), the World Bank Institute, the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales, the European Space Agency, Toulouse School of Economics, Nortel Networks and Télécom ParisTech.
Laura has contributed for five years to the African Economic Outlook, covering recent developments in macroeconomic and structural issues in African countries and participating in forecasting. She is regularly invited as referee in events and has media appearances in Le Monde, Financial Times, Les Afriques, RFI, amongst others. She has published several journal papers and has participated to the drafting of several books. She recently contributed to ministerial meetings on infrastructure (African Union, OECD-NEPAD).
She holds a B.A. degree on telecommunications engineering, an MBA on international trade (both at the Polytechnic University of Madrid) and a PhD in economics (Toulouse School of Economics).
