Annie Gentes is associate professor (Maître de conference HDR) in Information and Communication Sciences at Telecom ParisTech and Head of the Codesign and Media Studies Lab.
She teaches under graduate and graduate courses in design and innovation (SIM), gamification (SES) narration and innovation (Master PIC), and is co- head of two MA:
– MA (Master 2 research) “Design, Media, Technology”, with the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne
– MA (Master 2 research) “Design and sciences”, with ENS Cachan and ENSCI.
Her research focuses on contemporary design and its relations with scientific research, political contexts, as well as the industry. She is interested in “extreme design”: new design practices that go beyond the traditional scope of design activities. She also develops the concept of “in-discipline” to define the epistemology of design.
She works with artists, designers, researchers in engineering, and scientists in natural sciences like physics and biology, first to analyze the variety of their conceptive activities, second to develop a robust model of conception connecting the different disciplines.
She has been involved in the production of works of art as well as in academic and industrial ICT research projects. In particular, she has worked on distributed architectures, pervasive computing, open data, and Virtual Intelligent Agents.
